'Governor not consulted': MLA Saryu Roy over Jamshedpur's Municipal area status

  • Independent MLA Saryu Rai raised objections over the government's failure to inform the Governor about the decision to declare Jamshedpur a municipal area
  • He stated that such actions could be considered a direct contempt of the Governor's office
  • The government had obtained approval from the Cabinet for the declaration without prior intimation to the Governor

Independent MLA Saryu Roy met the Governor, highlighting concerns over the government's unilateral move to declare Jamshedpur as a municipal area without informing the Governor, which could be viewed as contempt of the Governor's office. The government had obtained Cabinet approval for the decision, and a minister has been designated as the in-charge of this matter. Roy insisted that the announcement of the proposal to declare Jamshedpur a municipal area should be made just a day before the commencement of the winter session of the Assembly.
